The COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 Pandemic is here. So, what can you do?

We are truly living through unprecedented times during the COVID-19 Pandemic. How can we do our part to battle this invisible enemy and keep our communities safe? Here are a few things you can do to help out.

Limit The Spread

First help limit the spread of COVID-19. Practice physical distancing, keeping 6 feet apart from others, but still call and check in on friends and loved ones to see if they need help.

Stay home when you are sick.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

When possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces you come in contact.

Strengthen Local Communities

Be sure to support local businesses as much as possible during these unprecedented times by picking up carry-out, having food delivered or checking a retailers’ online options.  Our business community is working hard to continue to serve the community and we need to unite to support them so that our local businesses will thrive after this crisis.

Local Chambers of Commerce are providing listings of information on their websites of local businesses, how to contact them and what services they are offering during this crisis. And don’t forget you can still buy gift cards!  So, please support your local businesses.

Take Care of Others

Cincinnati Area Senior Services, (CASS), a nonprofit organization, provides services to older adults and serves all of Hamilton County, including Cincinnati, as well as some surrounding areas. They are organizing volunteers to help with their Meals on Wheels program, consisting of deliveries as well as grocery shopping and delivery for specific households with seniors. If you’d like to volunteer, submit your name, contact information, and the area where you’d like to serve.

Help Our First Responders

Help for our first responders is needed now more than ever. Communities need N95 masks, gowns, surgical masks and other PPE donations for first responders. Can you help? Please call your local fire and police department to discuss availability and delivery.

One local group, Sew Masks 4 Cincy, is coming together to support and make mask covers for our local Cincinnati frontline workers by donating time, resources, and skills. If you are interested, please visit their website.

Even though we have to shelter in place to flatten the curve, we can all still do our part to keep our community safe & healthy.
